Raiders Jakobi Meyers shares initial thoughts on hiring Luke Getsy as offensive coordinator
Hali Tauxe-USA TODAY Sports Uploaded:

The Las Vegas Raiders are almost done assembling their staff for the 2024 season. Antonio Pierce was brought back, and most of the defensive staff stayed the same, while the offensive staff needed new coaches across the board.

The Raiders hired Luke Getsy. The former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator will lead their offense. A lot of fans are not very happy about the hire because of the lack of success the Bears had during his tenure there. But, for the most part, the players seem to be on board with the decision.

Jakobi Meyers, the team's second-best wide receiver, happens to love the hire.

"I see what he did in Chicago, man, so I'm excited to get in there [Raiders facilities] and meet him," Jakobi Meyers said recently during Super Bowl week. "I want to meet him and just see how the communication is. He's a younger guy, I think he's 39, so, hopefully, just a conversation and being able to relate to him would be cool."

The Bears have not been good for a while and were not great last year, either, especially on offense. They had Justin Fields, but somehow, the passing offense was never great. That's why fans are worried, especially when you factor in the fact that the Raiders have guys like Meyers and Davante Adams.

The Raiders believe that it wasn't Getsy that was the issue in Chicago. And Getsy believes it was Fields. So, in a way, this also completely rules out the Raiders trading for Justin Field, which has been a thing Raiders fans have wanted for some time now. Either way, Pierce, Meyers, and the rest of the team feel confident in what they are bringing to the table in 2024. And, let's be honest, what will the players say that they don't like the hire?

The Raiders and the players are ready to get started with Getsy.
