The 2022 season was a surprisingly fun ride for the Cleveland Guardians and their fans.

Picked by most to finish well behind the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins in the American League Central division, the Guardians got off to a hot start thanks to the emergence of rookie sensation Steven Kwan.

The team was buoyed by its wealth of young talent in 2022, winning 92 games and capturing the AL Central title.

Another member of that group was young outfielder Oscar Gonzalez, who took over the starting job in right field and became a key piece of the puzzle for the Guardians.

In addition to having the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song as his walk-up song, the young outfielder came up with some huge hits in the postseason, including his walk-off home run to eliminate the Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card series and his game-winning hit against the New York Yankees in the ALDS.

On Twitter, one Guardians fan posted a video of the highlight, reminiscing about the excitement of the moment.

The 24-year-old hit for a .296 average with 11 home runs and 43 RBI during the regular season.

Not only did his walk-up song bring a little excitement to his game, but his knack for coming through in the clutch helped a little bit as well, especially in the postseason.

Cleveland was down to its final strike in Game 3 of the ALDS, but Gonzalez came through and delivered one of the biggest hits of the year for the Guardians, putting them ahead in the series, 2-1.

The Guardians ultimately fell short in five games, but Gonzalez’s postseason heroics have not been forgotten.
